While superfood has become a popular word in the language of health, medicine, and food, truth be told, there is no official definition for the term. Generally speaking, it’s just used by many to refer to foods that provide special benefits to the body’s overall well-being, such as fruits and vegetables.

4. Watermelon

As a refreshing treat, watermelon is tagged an ultimate summer treat! But other than that, it’s also making a name for itself as a healthy and low-calorie snack. According to studies, this fruit can potentially lower the blood pressure levels and prevent heart diseases.

5. Mangosteen

A popular fruit in the Southeast Asia, mangosteens are fist-sized fruits that have purple skin and a soft white interior. Even if it’s hard to grow in the United States, it has been used in different health supplements because of the benefits it provides the body.

6. Chia Seeds

Although these are often grown in little ceramic planters, chia seeds are actually filled with essential fatty acids. Plus, they are also loaded with calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium that are all helpful in various body functions.

7. Lentils

Lentils may be small, but they are packed with nothing but good things. Aside from the fact that they’re cheap, they also contain iron, protein, and other essential nutrients. And since it has iron, it effectively fights off anemia and lowers blood sugar levels!
